EPA Regulations (by state)

State Air Quality Regulations
For permitting purposes, most states do not regulate wood burning systems that have less than 1Mbtu input and are using clean wood to generate needed heat. BCS systems are below this 1Mbtu input threshold.

Click on a state below to find information about your own state’s regulations. Many states do not have specific information related to commercial wood burning systems on their Web sites; in those cases, we have linked to the state air agency home page. You may want to search at those locations for information about “air toxics” or “particle pollution.” On occasion, a county or city may have additional air quality requirements.
