Boiler retrofits replace the existing wood feeding, combustion and control package with a Horizontal Zoned Grate System to increase output, efficiency and safety. Biomass Combustion Systems will provide turnkey retrofit packages or work with a customer-supplied crew.  

Below are a few examples of wood boiler retrofit projects - including four Ethan Allen Furniture locations.

	Biomass Combustion Systems retrofitted the 350 HP Crawford Furniture water tube boiler. The firebox feeding augers require six to ten feet in front of the boiler. Since Crawford used this area was used as a passageway, Biomass Combustion Systems built this walkway over the augers.
	Biomass Combustion Systems retrofitted this Ethan Allen Furniture 550 HP boiler to increase output, efficiency and safety. The front of the boiler was removed so the old combustion system could be removed and the Horizontal Zoned Grate installed.
	The front wall of this Ethan Allen Furniture boiler was replaced and the 12" refractory floor tiles installed to form the Horizontal Zoned Grate.
	Since this Ethan Allen Furniture boiler was a water tube design and did not require a front wall catwalk, the fire prevention equipment was installed on the front of the boiler.
	On this Ethan Allen Furniture Boiler the fuel was originally delivered too close to the front of the boiler for safe fuel delivery. Biomass Combustion Systems modified this existing feeding system to incorporate a metering chute that is a safe distance from the boiler. Biomass Combustion Systems is currently working to convert a third Ethan Allen Furniture plant to the Horizontal Zoned Grate.
